Created in one of the early Nazi concentration camps in Germany's Emsland region, the song 'Graue Kolonnen' (Grey Columns) was written by an unknown prisoner and based on the popular pre-war song 'Wilde Gesellen' (Wild Fellows). The song tells of the forced labour to which the prisoners are subjected, but retains the encouraging original refrain of 'Wilde Gesellen': 'The sun will not go down for us!'
